Dever BitsBit of the Month – Autumn Hunting
With Autumn just around the corner it is time to look at all your relevant tack to prepare for the new season. If you haven't been very active during the Summer it may be a good idea to "check your brakes" and adjust your bit accordingly! Gag bits are a useful aid for control & two you may wish to consider are:- Cheltenham Gag: This is a tried & tested bit, and remains very popular. It acts by increasing poll pressure & improving control via leverage action which discourages the horse from pulling downwards. Colne Gag: A newer gag bit, which has already proved very successful for event riders. This bit offers the same poll action as the Cheltenham gag, but has full cheeks as an additional aid to steering. The copper roller in the mouthpiece encourages the horse not to 'fix' on the bit, & also increases salivation. Sizes available 5", 5.5" & 6" in both bits. Available from all our stockists or online.
