Description
The pelham is a compromise between a snaffle and a double bridle, combining the actions of both. As well as exerting pressure on the horses mouth it also acts on the poll and curb groove. It only has one mouthpiece and can be ridden with pelham roundings so that only one set of reins is needed. It is ideal for a show horse whose mouth is too small for a double bridle. The jointed action of this bit has a direct effect on the horses tongue.
